halsey is one of my favorite artists. an edgy style and a daring role model, she seems fearless.
as for her music, i've been listening to her since mid-march and i have the deluxe Badlands cd. here is a review of her album.
1. Castle:
Castle immediately grabbed me with the opening notes. gradually over time the song kinda faded and isn't one of my favorites. i give it a 6/10.
2. Hold Me Down:
i do like Hold Me Down. it has a surprisingly positive message about even though you're small, things can't hold you back, people can't hold you back. 7/10.
3. New Americana:
New Americana was the first Halsey song i listened to, and those songs will always have a place in my heart. it has a rebellious appeal to me. i give it a 7/10.
4. Drive:
I love the instrumental version of this song. the beeps and key clicking and swerving. the lyrics themselves are okay. 7/10.
5. Hurricane:
hurricane itself is alright. i don't love it, but i don't hate it. 6/10.
6. Roman Holiday:
this used to be one of my favorites. i love the chorus:
We'll be looking for sunlight
Or the headlights
Till our wide eyes burn blind
We'll be lacing the same shoes
That we've worn through
To the bottom of the line
And we know that we're headstrong
And our heart's gone
And the timing's never right
But for now let's get awayOn a Roman holiday
8/10.
7. Ghost:
eh. never appealed to me. i listened to it, listened to her commentary on spotify and it's always been a 6/10.
8. Colors:
this song has such meaning to me. look up the lyric meaning if you're interested, but this is definitely one of her deepest songs. i give it 8/10
9. Colors PT. II
10. Strange Love:
i like the lyrics a lot actually. the beat's pretty cool. 7/10
11. Coming Down
this song's okay. nothing about it ever really stood out to me, the lyrics nor the beat. [it's not too bad since it's still saved on spotify] 5/10
12. Haunting
sooo haunting isn't my fave aka i skip it on spotify when it's a "suggested song". 5/10
13. Gasoline
14. Control
Control is another song i love. i didn't think much of it at first, other than i liked the chorus, but now i love it so much. 10/10.
15. Young God
i didn't like Young God that much at first, but now i do look forward to it playing on spotify. especially the whole "drowning my thoughts out" part. and if you listen to the instrumental version the music sounds really cool. 9/10.
16. I Walk the Line
eh. same thoughts as Coming down. 5/10.
xx
so this concludes my halsey review of Badlands.
do you like halsey? if you do, what songs are your favorite?
